The Narberth Walk
Oh! If it were that simple;
On paper it appeared such a simple exercise. A walk centred on Narberth starting from Canaston Bridge. 8 Mls./ 4-5 Hrs. Easy.
Misgivings began to surface en route following our chat to locals on the 40-minute bus journey to the start point. Their looks of consternation were fully justified when confronted with road improvements of M-way proportions at the start point. "Bad news" indeed as the planned route required heading North returning South to Narberth and confronting this monster once again.

Misgivings were compounded when my leadership & map-reading frailties were exposed, the said confrontation only to be delayed by a couple of extra unplanned miles and hours.

With the road works becoming a memory the "bad day at the office" continued. Any approach to Narberth itself revealed footpaths to either not exist or be totally impassable underfoot and fenced with more barbed wire than Colditz.

With the walk finally aborted a tired but very forgiving group reached Narberth by bus and a long and arduous day remains memorably happy for all the wrong reasons.

PS Those members not to traumatised by the above walk(?) set off to enjoy Thursday's walk All enjoyed a pleasant am. walk from Pembroke to Freshwater East. However, not everyone wished to continue walking as far as Manorbier. Public transport being there preferred option. They were headed for further disappointments but hey! that's another story
