Moorside Grange

Following 2009's superb visit to Moorside Grange Hotel a return to the area was very much looked forward to. Saturday's 8.5 Ml. loop took us directly from the Hotel to Whaley Bridge via Kettleshulme-Taxal Edge-Crowhill to follow the River Goyt into the village. After a very welcoming pub-stop at the "White Horse Inn" the return skirted Toddbrook Res. and Hawkhurst Head with the group reaching the Hotel just in time to demolish a fine cream tea. The walk could be described as demanding in places but the fine weather gave everyone the perfect excuse to admire the views (whilst getting our breath back).

All smiles at two miles

Sunday morning's nasty weather was a big disappointment so it was a very determined (and brave ????) group of 5 who took on the elements at Pomeroy for the shorter of the 2 planned walks. The rest of the group remained happy to take full advantage of the excellent hospitality that both the Hotel and "Duke of York" pub at Pomeroy had to offer. After a few hours and a fine lunch the drive home was at least helped by ever improving weather.
